At about 620 kilometres north of the Tropic of Capricorn, Magnetic Island will definitely give you a tropical holiday' this means night and day vary little in length; it means that at noon the sun is overhead; at night the sky is filled with the Milky Way.

Magnetic Island lies in the Coral Sea between the coastline of North Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef which is one of the most important world heritage sites.

Many of its bays are protected from fishing and anchoring to safeguard the rare corals which grow there.

It is claimed that in the clean warm waters of the Barrier Reef there are more species of fish than anywhere else in the world, making Magnetic Island a mecca for Scuba divers and snorkellers alike.
